Career Technical Education

Chaffey Adult School offers a number of introductory-level vocational courses designed to provide entry level skills in the content area. A certificate of completion is awarded upon successful completion of the course. Courses begin the week of August 11 for Semester 1 and January 5 for Semester 2, and run for 18 weeks unless otherwise noted. All fees are per semester.

🔧 AUTOMOTIVE

Vehicle Maintenance and Light Repair
This ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified course curriculum will provide entry-level training in automotive service, light repair, diagnosis, and maintenance using hand tools, specialty tools, and diagnostic equipment. Students will learn to replace air cleaners, wiper blades, tires, shocks, batteries, balance tires, and work on cooling, heating/air conditioning, charging/starter, and brake systems. Successful students will complete the program with an in-demand job skill, a foundation for additional training and will receive a certificate of completion.  The course may be repeated by those qualified students pursuing the course/hours standard for the industry certification exam.

🔩 WELDING

This course introduces students to various welding techniques and provides the knowledge and skills for joining metals. Related areas include tools, equipment, safety, health of a welding professional, identifying weld quality, basic welding symbols and blueprint reading. Other areas include oxyfuel gas cutting operations on carbon steel, including straight and bevel cuts in limited positions and within limed thickness ranges. Techniques of shield metal arc welding and gas welding will be introduced in a team environment.

🖥️📊 MECHANICAL DRAFTING/CAD

Computer Aided Design (CAD)
This mechanical drafting course teaches students to draw, interpret and present orthographic and isometric designs of mechanical products and their individual components. AutoCAD and Solidworks software will be the primary tools for drawing, dimensioning, and sectioning. This course covers the fundamentals and basics of mechanical drawing, terminology, and design processes.

🧱 MASONRY

Bricklaying/Blocklaying Mason (prospective students will be contacted)

Learn entry level masonry skills, including use of masonry products, mortar preparation and application, laying blocks, proper use of masonry tools and equipment, job safety, and project planning. Class meets for 14 weeks.

CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM PATHWAYS

Chaffey Adult School offers a three pathways designed to support adult students in gaining the skills, certifications, and experience needed to succeed in today's ever changing workforce. Whether you want to start a new career, learn new skills, or refresh existing skills, our CTE program pathways offer a clear path toward career confidence, growth, and a sustainable income.
 
These practical, hands-on programs are catered to meet the needs of local industries as well as our students to transition into meaningful, sustainable employment.
 
Each program has its own start and end date. We currently offer the following CTE program pathways:

 

❄️ Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC): offered Fall & Spring

Level 1: This course is designed to provide individuals with the skills necessary to attain entry-level employment in the industry and/or pursue further training.  Instruction will focus on basic principles and safety, skills sets and tasks, appropriate use of materials, equipment and tools, and customer service related to the industry.

💻 IT Fundamentals: offered Fall & Spring

Level 1: This one-semester, hybrid course is designed for adult learners seeking foundational IT knowledge with a focus on preparing for the Comp TIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification. Over the course of the semester, students will cover essential topics including hardware, software, networks, and cybersecurity principles. The curriculum balances theoretical learning with practical application, offering hands-on activities, real-world cases, and mock exams. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the skills needed to pass the ITF+ exam and gain a solid understanding of IT basics, cybersecurity, and troubleshooting. Ideal for beginners in the IT field or those aiming to build a strong foundation for further certifications.
 
Prerequisite: Previous computer skills required (examples include Microsoft Office, Computer Information Systems, and Computer Applications).

🩺 Medical Assistant Certificate Program

 

This two-semester career training program equips students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed for entry-level roles in both administrative and clinical medical settings. The curriculum covers the medical assistant’s scope of practice, duties, and responsibilities; introduces basic pharmacology; and provides training in front office procedures. Students will also explore the fundamentals of human body systems, diagnostic and therapeutic practices, basic lab procedures, and career pathways in the medical assisting field.

Upon successful completion of the program, students earn a Medical Assistant (MA) Certificate of Completion, which qualifies them to take the National Certified Medical Assistant Exam.

The program is taught by both Chaffey Adult School and Mount San Antonio College in a hybrid format. 

Prerequisites- students must pass with 80% in order to continue the program. Courses are offered in fall and spring. Students that do not pass with 80%, will be asked to repeat in Spring 2026. These courses must be taken together.
