ENTRY LEVEL (GED) TEST PREP & ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (ABE)

Entry level GED test prep and Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes focus on improving reading, writing and math skills. Each class is taught through direct instruction by a credentialed teacher. The highly focused nine-week sessions will prepare students to transition to the GED/HSE (High School Equivalency) preparation classes or high school diploma classes, whichever meets student educational goal. Registration is at the 7th Street campus. These classes are available at no charge.

An assessment will be given in the office at the time of registration to insure proper program placement. Students will attend a mandatory orientation session to outline program expectations and set educational and personal goals. Contact the office for orientation dates and time.

ADVANCED LEVEL HSE (GED) TEST PREP

HSE (High School Equivalency) standards are based on high school graduate skills in the areas of reading, writing, math, social studies, and science.

Chaffey Adult School's HSE test preparation program offers classes designed to prepare students to pass the GED computer-based exam. Students are required to take an assessment before placement and attend an orientation session.  All classes are facilitated by an instructor, are self-pased, and students must commit to attending class at least 3 days per week for the full class period. A textbook is required for all HSE prep classes and is available for purchase in the office.  Coursework is also available online.  Students should register for HSE preparation classes at the 7th Street campus.  There is no cost for these courses.

GED EXAM

Chaffey Adult School is an authorized GED Testing Center. All examinees must first register for the GED exam by creating a free account online at ged.com. All exams are scheduled in advance and paid for on-line. The cost for the full battery of tests if $164.00 ($41.00 per test x 4 tests). The GED exam is administered at Chaffey Adult School's 7th Street campus. Students Students who take all of the GED subject tests at the 7th St. Campus will be offered a voucher so they can take the last subject exam at no cost. Requirements for Testing:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Present a valid, government-issued, photo ID (i.e. driver's license, CA ID, passport)
  • Present proof of California residency (i.e. utility bill, bank statement, government issued documentation)
